Galaga is an arcade shooting game in SpaceGalaga
Posted by Namco in 1981 Galaga is a spaceship shooting arcade game. Galaga is similar to Galaxian because it is a sequel. The player controls a spaceship and shoots the alien ship groups that on previous occasions attack. Space bar to shoot. The arrow keys to move.
Purpose of the game
The player controls a ship that must fight against a swarm of Martians who will attack him by firing bombs and acting as kamikazes. When this arcade game starts, the Martians do not appear immediately. Instead, they appear pirouetting and then take a place in a formation. They do not fire when they are there, they only do it when they leave the formation to try to get as close as possible to the player and thus annihilate it.
In addition, above the "common" Martians are the "Boss Galaga". These aliens have two peculiarities:
• They need two shots to be eliminated.
• They have the power to use the so-called "Beam Tractor". When a Boss is halfway between the formation and the player, he will use a laser to try to hijack the ship. The player can rescue her by firing the Boss Galaga, which will make the hijacked ship stand next to the current one, being able to shoot two bombs at the same time.
Every three levels the player will be able to participate in a "Challenging Stage", where he will have to shoot 40 Martians, who will do different pirouettes in order not to be eliminated. If you manage to eliminate them all, the arcade game will give away 10000 points as a prize, otherwise 100 for each.
From Level 4, "common" Martians can triple in three equal Martians. This last modification was developed by the Argentinean Maximiliano Castelli for Namco, later an Argentine version was sold in Latin America with more than 10 levels.
