Health Trust Indicator

Easy to read, easy to trust, find your health infoHealth Trust Indicator is a free browser extension that quickly guides you towards health websites you can trust. Because the quality of health content is important and because search engines rank results by popularity, not by trustworthiness, the extension includes three major functions in one tool: it is a health search engine, it indicates trustworthiness, and it indicates how easy the content is to understand.

Health search engine

Access high-quality information on the Internet through the Khresmoi for Everyone (K4E http://everyone.khresmoi.eu) health search engine, which offers a list of HONcode certified websites and a curated list of online health resources that are manually checked to ensure that they meet the HONcode criteria for health information online.

Trust indicator

Select trustworthy health pages and avoid information from websites with a low trust score in the easiest way: through an indicator of trustworthiness. The trust indicator is the result of more than five years of research. Health Trust Indicator scans individual webpages and entire sites, providing a report on the health website’s trust level in just a few minutes.

Readability level

Know how easy the content of health websites is to understand by checking a page’s readability level. This tool classifies health webpages according to the level of technical health information contained in the document and thus the level of knowledge needed to understand the content. Using this tool, you can thus adequately choose documents targeted at your level of understanding, a level that evolves over time as your knowledge increases.

Concretely, Health Trust Indicator:
- Enriches the results of popular search engines, such as Google and Bing, with quality indicators and;
- Allows you to check content trustworthiness and readability indicators and access its health search engine, all while navigating within a given health webpage.

This extension is provided by the KConnect European Project (http://kconnect.eu/) and maintained by the Health On the Net Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO) holding a special relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO).
