LentascopeLentascope is a tool intended for users of blogging platform Livejournal.com, popular mostly in Russia, by created originally by Brad Fitzpatrick.

Currently, users of livejournal.com have no possibility to read old friends feeds (older than several months). We created Lentascope to fix this.

We believe that reading old friend feeds can be very interesting for some niche audience of users, because it creates an illusion of time travel. It is just like reading your normal friend feed, with a difference that people who create topics and whom you know well are totally unaware about what happened, say, last 15 years (Livejournal feeds start from yearly 2000).

Lentascope reads publicly available user calendars and then aggregate user posts into one feed, starting from a specified time point. That is all our tool does.

There is also a pure web-based version of this tool http://lentascope.net, currenly in Russian language only, requiring no browser app installation; but it works for some number of pre-indexed users only; their number constantly grows but chances are that most your friends are not indexed yet so this Chrome App can be used instead.

Technically, Lentascope exists only because our web-based scripts at lentascope.net cannot access Livejournal.com because of Same Origin Policy. Chrome App overcomes this limitation, it just reads livejournal calendars in the way a normal, no-script, human users do.
