The ability to recognize the major features of outlines of movement are a key to success for children solving graphic tasks which reinforce especially logic, but which also influence many other skills. The way in which the child acquires an overall perception of outlines enables him or her to analyze the shape of objects, their overall appearance, and then to work with them.
Our exercise book contains real objects and their outlines, infills, their imprints or cutaways. The child can for example, identify which objects belong to which outlines or which cutaway parts form a whole. The child moves the objects toward each other and assembles them. He or she then perceives the resulting shape as a whole and subsequently supports his or her visual preference by means of assembly in reality. All the problem-solving situations through which the child proceeds reinforce his or her attention, concentration and imagination, and enrich him or her through meaningful experience. The complexity of the situations on the screens gradually increases. The first task sheet is the simplest, with the last being the most complex. The child can expand his or her skills by proceeding through each separate sheet and hence consequentially manage ever-more demanding situations.
Program structure:
The program is divided into three sections: EVOCATION, PERCEPTION and REFLECTION.
- The EVOCATION section engages the child in the problem situation. The child distinguishes the objects and situations necessary for fulfilling the tasks in the following sections of the program.
- The UNDERSTANDING section enables the child to examine, discover and experiment within the problem situation. The child receives immediate feedback to his or her work, which helps with comprehension and subsequent resolution.
- In the REFLECTION section of the program, the child assesses the skills achieved in the UNDERSTANDING section. Reflection enables the child to choose and enter an answer, which he or she could only assess visually. The final output is in the form of a graphic image of the screen, which the child solved, along with confirmation of his or her correct answers. This child, parent or teacher can scrutinize this record and hence analyze the work.
Setting the program:
In this section of the program, parents can record a positive or encouraging audio or video message. This message is played back to the child when he or she manages all the situations on the worksheet and decides to proceed further. Such messages are highly recommended due to their motivational character.
